Father's Day 2009

Constance got this poem from her Primary Teacher and gave it to Mike (her daddy).
Walk a Little Slower
"Walk a little slower, Daddy,"
said a little child so small
"I'm following in your footsteps
and I don't want to fall."
Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see:
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.
Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
for I must follow you.
I am so thankful for my wonderful husband. He is a great dad and gives so much of himself. Nothing could be better then having my two little boys follow in his footsteps.
I am also grateful for my dad and for all he has done and continues to do for us. I am so grateful to all the men in my life, from my brothers and their life-long examples and love to my father-in-law and brothers-in-law for their love and support. I hope everyone has a Happy Father's Day!

A Day in the Life of Jordan

This morning ... when I noticed things were too quiet ... I found Jordan sitting in my tub with my conditioner. Of course, my conditioner has the pump on it and yep, he can work it. So I get him out of my tub and out of my room and get him cleaned up ... he smells good now!

Not too much later ... I notice it is too quiet again and I don't see my little man. I go to the other bathroom and he has opened the door and I hear the toilet flush. I hurry in and ask him to get out. The toilet seat is down so I think ... no problem ... I got here before he could do too much damage. The toilet paper was missing but I just figured it had run out and needed to be replaced. It wasn't until later when Mike pulled the paper tube out of the toilet I discovered I was mistaken. Evidently the tube doesn't flush!

I was looking for the wipes ... they weren't in my room, the kitchen or living room. I notice the quiet again. I go looking for Jordan and find him hiding in his closet with the wipes. Of course he has pulled them all out ... Thankfully the container he had was almost gone.

Jordan managed to open a thing of yogurt and then accidentally dropped it.

I took the kids out to wait for Daddy to get home. They were excited to see him after he had been working all day. Next thing I know ... Jordan is standing in the driveway taking his diaper off while leaving his pants on. Evidently the tab on the diaper had broken.

I put my kids in the tub ... actually Constance was showering in one bathroom and Jordan was in the other tub. As I was finishing washing him he decided to drain the water. When it was all gone I told him it was time to get out. He told me "No Thank You" and then he laid down in the tub and told me "night-night".

Today has definitely been interesting ... not dull by any means. Bedtime is a welcome break.

A little added weight

I was in the kitchen doing squats ... just figured I just as well work my legs out a little while I was doing something. Well ... Constance decided that she would make me work a little harder. She had to stand right behind me and show me that she could do the same thing as me. She didn't stop there though ... she started to do the splits and then when she was about to loose her balance ... she grabs onto me. I decided real quick that I was done.

A Big Mess

My little man, Jordan decided today I didn't have enough to do. I was in the kitchen trying to get things cleaned up and working on getting dinner started. It was a little too quiet ... I figured I needed to go and check and see what Jordan was up to.

He decided I needed to play the fun game of million card pick-up. You guessed it ... he had found all our card games and had proceeded to dump them all out into a nice pile on the floor. The good thing was ... at least he didn't get the chance to empty all of them out completely.

He also discovered the toilet plunger earlier today and proceeded to put it in and out of the toilet ... What a little helper ... never a dull moment that is for sure.

Bathroom Fun!

You know it is just a matter of time before this happens ... Here is Jordan at 2 years old ... my mom was over at my house watching the kids while I was out. I come and the first thing my mom tells me is "if the toilet is clogged it is not my fault." Ok. She then proceeds to tell me that she heard a door shut and evidently it was Jordan going into the bathroom. He found the washcloth ... I am unclear if that made it into the toilet as well. Then he found the roll of toilet paper and yep .. you guessed it ... a roll of toilet paper made it into the toilet.

That's my boy and that is also why he isn't being potty trained right now ... The bathroom door stays shut, now it looks like I might need to lock it as well.

Loss

This past week we had a family tragedy. My little nephew, Charlie, died in an accident. It has been very hard. We know that he will be a part of our family forever ... but there is still the loss and the heartache you feel. It is hard to believe it is all real. We are so thankful that he was a part of our family and for the time we had with him.

When you are going through something this hard ... it is always so comforting to be surrounded by friends and family ... and we were. All the love and support and prayers offered and that continue to be offered are appreciated.

Charlie never did anything small ... he was always so full of life and energy. From the viewing, to the Funeral and the Procession ... the lives an 8 year old boy has touched in such a short amount of time is humbling. I am thankful for the memories ... his hugs, his smiles and his love and giving nature ... he will be missed.

Ready or not

Mike had to work this morning. After I finished feeding Dominic, He went back to sleep on our bed. Constance had made herself nice and comfortable on our bed. I had gone into the other room ... I thought I heard Jordan stirring so I poked my head in his room. He was still laying down. I went and finished what I was doing. The next thing I know ... in walks Jordan. I had to do a quick double take ... I looked around and Constance was no where around ... I knew I hadn't gotten him up. It if official. Jordan can climb out of his crib all by himself. This could be interesting. He actually climbed out of the playpen at my parents house the other day too. I don't think I am ready for this.
