Evidently going to the bathroom at times is a pain and Jordan just doesn't want to be bothered with it. So there are some days he simply tells me "I will do it tomorrow." or "I went at grandma's house". It doesn't matter that the last time he was at grandma's house was 2 days ago.
I decided ok, if you are just going to be lazy and go in your pull-up you can just go without a pull-up. It worked really well for a while. Until Jordan decided he really didn't want to have a bare bum. He found the pull-ups and put one on all by himself.
What is really funny is when he comes in and tries to tell me he was still dry (a question we always ask after he goes potty) and I go to look and find he has a new pull-up on and it is on backwards.
There are some mornings he will put on his big boys and stay dry all day. He is to the point he is actually dry a majority of the time.
Dominic actually will let you take his diaper off and sit on the potty. He doesn't do anything yet but he is at least interested, right?

REALLY?!
This about sums up some of my days. I love my boys very much and I am so thankful for them. Some days I think they have the impression that my life is really dull and boring and they take it upon themselves to make things interesting.
Dominic deciding he didn't want to eat the applesauce which he loves. Instead it is all over in his hair. Did I mention he HATES having his head washed? To the point of screaming and crying and climbing out of the tub when we wash it. Needless to say, I made his day too.
I was called to the living room. Upon entering the doorway I found Dominic with his diaper in hand (both wet and poopy) and a smile on his face and a bare bum. Thankfully the mess was contained to the diaper.
One of our visits to the Fire Department my boys were playing by the door. Jordan decided to push the heavy door open and then just let it shut. Thankfully Mike was standing right there because it shut on Dominic's fingers. He was able to get Dominic's fingers out so he wasn't hurt too bad. Poor Jordan felt so bad he just broke into tears.
Still working on Potty Training. Jordan does really well, when he wants too. One morning I found him with pull-up in hand and a puddle just outside the bathroom. Evidently he didn't make it to the bathroom in time.
Dominic has discovered he can extend his reach with the bathroom stool. The problem is what he does with the new found height. I was taking food to my van so we could deliver it to the church for a service project (we were taking food to feed the homeless). One of the times I was going back in (I did have my keys with me), found the storm door locked and Dominic standing on the stool looking at me laughing. He did unlock it so I didn't have to another door or get Constance to unlock the door. I definitely make sure I have my keys any time I go outside (no matter how quick I plan on being).
Dominic is very particular about what he wears. He only likes jeans. I have tried to put other pants on him and he starts kicking and screaming. Of course, his dress of choice is a t-shirt, diaper and shoes (doesn't matter if it's boots, snow boots or tennis shoes). That is really fun when he tried to go outside and it was really cold. Of course, He was following his big brother who was dressed exactly the same at the time. Now we are having issues with him not wanting to wear shorts. I love the morning fights with clothes.
Dominic really loves to help. I had a pile of clean clothes on my bed, Dominic decided he would help and took an armful and he ran all the way to the laundry room and put them in with the dirty clothes.
When I have asked the boys take their toys out of the kitchen, so I wasn't stepping on them every time I turned around, they did. I found them sitting just inside the doorway of the laundry room, so you couldn't even walk around them.
With Mike's work schedule I get to take the kids to church by myself every once in a while. When my parents tell me they will come and go with me I am thrilled for the help. The funny thing is my boys end up having "turf wars" over me and my lap. I figure they will want grandma and grandpa. Nope. Let the battle begin.
It took one time of Jordan on his big boy bike for us to decide we needed to get him a helmet ASAP. We were outside enjoying the beautiful weather and had got the bikes out. Jordan got on his bike and flew down the sidewalk. For his own safety and my sanity we bought him a helmet. He had the biggest smile on his face. Of course, the fun came in with sharing the sidewalk and taking turns.
This really caught me off guard.
I had taken the boys to exercise. Mike was at work at the Fire Department. In the middle of my class the Fire Alarm went off. When saw some firemen walk in to reset the alarm, I figured my boys would be going nuts because they would see the firetruck and want to see their daddy. I was half right. In walks one of the nursery workers and she tells me that Jordan is freaking out and they can't get him to calm down. I leave class and find Jordan crying and telling me he wants to get Nic and go home there's a fire. I tried to calm him down and tried to reassure him that everything was ok. As soon as we were outside he was ok. He used to be so excited to go out and sit in the fire truck ... not so much anymore. Definitely not if the lights are on.
One Sunday we picked him up from his class and he was in tears. We finally realized he had heard the bell and thought it was the fire alarm. He seems to be fine after we explained what it was.

Tonsil Fun.
After dealing with strep multiple times a school year for the past several years we finally were able to schedule a time for Constance to get her tonsils out. We didn't want her to miss a lot of school so we decided to do it over Christmas break.
To prep for her surgery we had to remove all fingernail and toenail polish. To add to the fun she gave me a pedicure.
They schedule the surgeries from the youngest to the oldest (completely understandable). The hard thing was she couldn't eat anything after midnight and nothing to drink after 9:30 the morning of the surgery. That was fine until they ended up running a couple of hours late. She was pretty miserable by the time they took her back. Everything went well and we got her a smoothie afterwards. The first week was definitely the worst. She was so miserable. She didn't want to drink anything. I had made sure to stock up on her favorites too, but I still had a hard time coaxing her. Mike ended up leaving work early one day because I couldn't get her to drink anything.
Cousins came in for the holidays (she had her surgery on that Monday, they got in Thurs/Friday). That was hard too because she wasn't feeling 100%. Of course, cousins didn't think it was too fair she got ice cream, and other treats to eat and they didn't.
Thankfully by the time my sister and her family got in town, Constance was feeling much better. She got to have a cousin spend the night and by the end of the second week she felt well enough to spend the night at Grandma's.
Of course, I don't know if she was more upset that she wasn't allowed to climb a tree or because of she hurt.
When we went back in for the follow-up she was so excited when the Dr told her "no restrictions". She told me the first thing she wanted to do was climb a tree.
Bless her heart, I don't think she thought her throat would ever feel better.

It's the Little things.
Jordan came in to our room one morning and told me "you drive me crazy woman." I just sat there and laughed. What else can you say to that?
I heard a lot of banging and couldn't figure out what it was. I found Dominic using his toy dump truck as a battering ram trying to get in his sissy's room.
We were driving in the car and Jordan asked me a question. I answered him by saying "yep" to which I was quickly told "Mommy you say yes sir not yep." (Thank you Jordan)
Jordan came into our bathroom and saw our bathroom curtain and said "Oh mommy, I like it. It is new."
I love when my blankets are fresh out of the washer and dryer. Jordan does too. He actually will bring me his blankets and ask me to make them warm.
Jordan trying to get me to close my eyes and telling me to go to sleep and then pulling my hair over my eyes and then blowing it. Jordan just bust up laughing.
I love picking Jordan up from Nursery and then getting Constance from Primary class and Jordan running up to her to hug her and telling her "I love you."
The boys spending the morning "fixing" their dump truck when I let them use one of daddy's wrenches. They were content for hours.
Jordan coming out of the bathroom rubbing his hands together telling me he had washed his hands. He decided he would use toothpaste. I found it with the cap off and all over the tube and sink. As I was cleaning up the mess I tried to explain toothpaste is for our teeth not for our hands.
Jordan telling me "Donald Duck says 'quack quack'".
Jordan coming into the kitchen saying "sorry mommy" I am thinking something is really wrong. I try to go to the living room but Jordan plants himself in front of me saying "no, no, no, no" I am really getting worried now. I end up picking him up and go around him and find the dump truck up on its side. Jordan then tells me "it's ok."
After watching his big brother go potty, Dominic has decided he wants to too, until it comes down to actually sitting on the potty or taking his diaper off. He came and grabbed my hand, telling me he wanted to go potty.
Jordan getting upset after he puts his hands in the snow and then they got cold.
Constance was in heaven. She got to crawl under our house to help daddy and Grandpa with plumbing. Of course, she was the only one who was happy about being under the house and she didn't mind at all that she was covered from head to toe in dirt, dust, and mud.
Jordan coming up to me and telling me "mommy, you have a bum."
We went to my brother's farm to deliver some stuff to Kam. The boys were so excited they got to see some baby bunnies. I had to hold it to keep it from gettin smooshed and they still tried to pet it's eyes. It was fun trying to teach them "soft". Dominic found the mud. I took baby steps through every mud puddle he could find. His shoes definitely came off before we put him back in the truck. The boys had fun throwing rocks and watching them roll down the hill. At one point I didn't answer Jordan quick enough. The next thing I heard was "Mommy Cook"!
Dominic sitting at the table "eating" corn on the cob. Of course, he doesn't really eat it. He just sat there and picked the kernels off one at a time and put them on his plate.
I love when my little boys come in and climb in bed with me and snuggle me. Of course, it would be nice if it wasn't at 5am

Sharing is optional ... Right?!
We are really trying to teach the concept of sharing. Some days go better than others (as with everything).
Cereal
Dominic wanted some cereal in a cup. When I gave him some he asked for some for his brother too and proceeded to take the other cup to his brother. Of course, later on He is dumping the contents of his brother's cup into his own. Other times you find Jordan finishing off Dominic's bar or drink. I guess this does qualify as sharing ... It just may not be voluntary.
Chewies
Most of the time Dominic does really well with sharing. He looks out for his siblings and tries to take care of them too. I have found his limit though. I was giving him his morning vitamin and he wanted to give one to Sissy and Jordan (never been a problem before) so I gave them to him to do just that. Evidently the chewy never made it to either one of them. He decided he would much rather eat them himself.
Birthdays
This is a fun one. Dominic had his 2nd birthday in January. His word for the day was "mine" and "no" when it came to his new toys. Jordan just didn't understand why he didn't get toys too and why he didn't get to blow out candles. We tried to explain but he just didn't understand. Of course, Dominic eased up on the "no" and "mine" after a day or too. We will have more fun when it is Jordan's birthday and Dominic doesn't get anything.
