Tonsil Fun.

After dealing with strep multiple times a school year for the past several years we finally were able to schedule a time for Constance to get her tonsils out. We didn't want her to miss a lot of school so we decided to do it over Christmas break.
To prep for her surgery we had to remove all fingernail and toenail polish. To add to the fun she gave me a pedicure.
They schedule the surgeries from the youngest to the oldest (completely understandable). The hard thing was she couldn't eat anything after midnight and nothing to drink after 9:30 the morning of the surgery. That was fine until they ended up running a couple of hours late. She was pretty miserable by the time they took her back. Everything went well and we got her a smoothie afterwards. The first week was definitely the worst. She was so miserable. She didn't want to drink anything. I had made sure to stock up on her favorites too, but I still had a hard time coaxing her. Mike ended up leaving work early one day because I couldn't get her to drink anything.
Cousins came in for the holidays (she had her surgery on that Monday, they got in Thurs/Friday). That was hard too because she wasn't feeling 100%. Of course, cousins didn't think it was too fair she got ice cream, and other treats to eat and they didn't.
Thankfully by the time my sister and her family got in town, Constance was feeling much better. She got to have a cousin spend the night and by the end of the second week she felt well enough to spend the night at Grandma's.
Of course, I don't know if she was more upset that she wasn't allowed to climb a tree or because of she hurt.
When we went back in for the follow-up she was so excited when the Dr told her "no restrictions". She told me the first thing she wanted to do was climb a tree.
Bless her heart, I don't think she thought her throat would ever feel better.
