1st Grade Field Trip

Constance was sooo excited for this field trip. Monday, May 18th we got to go the Fire Station by our house. It just so happens this is the same station that her daddy works out. And to top it off, it was the day that daddy was at work. My mom took the boys so that I could go with her on her field trip, since it was her last one for the year. We got to walk to the station from the school. They split us into two groups, since there were 100 students there. One group went inside and they answered questions and talked to the kids about fire safety, and gave us a tour of the station. The kids thought it was so cool they got to sleep on bunk beds. The other group was outside looking at the two fire engines and all the tools and equipment on them. I think Constance's favorite thing was seeing her daddy there ... of course the other kids thought it was pretty cool that her daddy was a fireman.

Next we got to walk across the street to the library. They introduced the summer reading program and read books to the kids and a few other activities before we took the kids outside to play on the playground. The kids had fun. Constance's class got to eat their lunch outside after we got back to school. I ate with them.

At the start of the field trip, Constance was walking with me along with two of her friends, Natalie and Leslie. By the time we got to the station, Steven, a little boy in her class, decided that he wanted to hold my hand too. So I had both hands taken and both legs were taken ... this makes walking very interesting. On the walk back to school, I added a few more girls from Constance's class.

It was a beautiful day. The morning was a little cool. I was thankful I had worn jeans. Of course, by the time we were outside playing in the park it was perfect. I remembered sunblock on my face ... but I forgot my neck. I was a little pink ... thankfully just a little.
