A dog leash

My boys have found a new use for a dog leash -- I came home and noticed the wagon dangling from the swing set.

When we went to picks the kids up last night from my parents my mom told me that one of the boys got in their medicine cabinet.  Jordan likes to open medicine bottles and after a call after we got home we found out that he had emptied a Benadryl bottle -- thankfully into the toilet and not his mouth.  About had a heart attack with that phone call.

Today while at my mom's for Mother's Day, Carol informs me that Jordan was in the house playing with matches and told Sidney not to say anything (which says he knew he was doing something wrong).  I sat him down and talked to him and told mike so he will be talking to him about that.

We got home and after quick baths and getting them tucked in I found a bunch if wrappers in their vent-- candy and my bars.  This has been in the last 24 hours -- just shaking my head right now.

Mother's Day

Constance left me this for me to find this morning

Oh their imaginations!

So ... Nic's favorite animal of all time is a TIGER.  It has been since the first time he saw one in the zoo when he was 18 months old.  Time has not changed that.  In one of our many interesting discussions he has commented that Heavenly Father is magic -- when you look at all that he can do to his young mind he has to be magic.  Nic then td me that since He was magic he had prayed to be a tiger.  Nothing has changed -- guess this is a good lesson on prayers and answers.

Jordan asked me if he could have a pet elephant.  When I told him our yard wasn't big enough and that an elephant would smoosh everything.  He told me it was ok -- we could get a baby elephant.  I told him they don't stay baby's very long and he told me when it got too big we could give it to someone who had lots of land -- kind of surprised me he didn't volunteer grandma and grandpa and their farm for that.  Figured our exotic per discussion was done ... Until

On the way to Franklin there is a field where someone has 3 zebras.  When my kids saw it the discussion of pets was opened back up.  Constance said she would love to have zebras for a pet.  Jordan put in his request for an elephant again.  Of course Nic wants his tiger.  I mean, come on, who wants a dog, cat, fish, etc when you can have a tiger. Zebra or elephant.  

THis reminded me of when I was little and my parents were going to Israel and Egypt and they asked us what we wanted them to being us back -- my response was really quite simple -- either a baby camel or baby elephant (alive of course)

And this is what I got-- a wood camel! Makes me laugh.

Special delivery vs. mommy's tummy

There has been a huge discussion going on for a while now in our family.  It all started with Jordan asking some questions.  I don't remember specifically what they were only that they led to the discussion of him being adopted.  

When he asked if he grew in my tummy I told him He didn't -- he was a special delivery (brought a huge smile to his face) which made Dominic get upset because he wasn't a "special delivery" he told me he didn't want to grow in my tummy.  I then told Nic he was my little surprise (which made him smile).  

Of course this led to the discussion and complaints of Nic that he was #3.  He informed me he didn't want to be #3 and had infact told Heavenly Father he wanted to come first but He didn't listen.  He asked if Aunt Malia was born before me -- yes.  You are the youngest like me -- yes (big smiles) And all is right with the world again.  

Then the discussion turned to who was the biggest baby (Nic) and who was the smallest (Jordan) -- Nic was thrilled.  Jordan -- not so much

Vitamin Z

Since we are on spring break and in Michigan, I brought the kids out to get some vitamin z.  It is actually one of the nicer days they have had.  The sun is actually out and the temps were 60.  There are still so many piles of snow in the parking lots (didn't get a picture though).  

The highlight for Nic was getting to see his favorite animal, a tiger, up close.  I think he would have stayed there forever if his siblings would have been willing.

One of the funniest things was when Nic saw some monkeys and they turned and walked away.  He busted up laughing and told me "that monkey just showed me his butt."

There were several times he wasn't too sure if he was safe ... The tiger exhibit we had to show him the walls.  The crocodile  exhibit he wanted to make sure they couldn't jump out.

The anaconda exhibit he had to make sure they couldn't break the glass.  

After giving Jordan my jacket because he was cold and ready to leave after the first 5 minutes, he finally warmed up and had fun.

The peacock was one of their favorites.  Jordan couldn't believe how big giraffes are in person.  He's seen them before but I guess he forgot.

Constance got to kiss a frog prince and was so exited 

She danced with him. They all had to have their time with the statues

Nic was upset because Jordan got to sit on the frog too and that means he got to do it more than Nic since he has done it before.

At least his grumps were short lived.

We've learned that even though the zoo is open in April -- not all the animals are out since it is still too cold.  But we did still manage to have fun!
