Fireworks

With my birthday being July 3rd, I have fun. I have told Constance that the fireworks are for my birthday celebration. To which I am told they are for our country. Well, this year our city had their fireworks show on my birthday. I kept telling Constance "see, see, I told you." She still didn't buy it. Of course we took the kids, which meant a late night, but you can't miss the fireworks. It seemed like everyone else felt the same way ... everywhere was packed. Jordan is only 2 so he doesn't remember fireworks. He spent the entire time with his head either on Mike's shoulder or mine. He watched them but he was quiet. Poor thing was really tired. I recorded them on my phone. Today I played it for Jordan and he got quite excited. Actually, he got mad at me when I would keep playing it over and over and over.

Bedroom Renovations

When we learned that I was expecting Dominic we knew we had to get going full speed ahead on converting our garage into our master bedroom. Bless my dad's heart he put in a lot of time here at our house (working around his schedule) and we finally completed the master bedroom and bath shortly after Dominic was born. We love it! Constance was disappointed because she wanted lots of windows too. There are a few minor details to complete but for the most part it is done. YIPEE!

Firsts

Both Jordan and Dominic were able to go for their first horseback rides earlier this month. While my sister and her family were in town we went to a friend's farm with my brother and his family. The kids had fun running around the farm. They got to chase a pot-bellied pig and swing on swings. They even got to feed a baby goat. I think the highlight of the evening was riding the horses. There was a little pony they could ride or Dusty (a quarter horse).

Constance has always loved horses and would have stayed on one the entire time if she could. She had fun riding "her horse" Dusty and also the pony. Jordan had fun with Uncle Hambone ... Tradition is that Uncle Hambone takes the kids on their first horseback ride. I don't know why it has taken us so long to get Jordan out on his first ride but he was quite content. Of course, when he wasn't on the horse he managed to find a 4-wheeler to sit on. Dominic got his first ride as well.

It was a fun night! Jordan points out every horse he sees and gets quite excited.

It's the little things

Jordan learned something the other day. I can't remember where we were going ... I had the kids with me in the van. Next thing I hear is Dominic laughing. Constance told me that Dominic was looking at Jordan and whatever Jordan was doing it got him so tickled and he just laughed. I have watched them and it is the cutest thing. Jordan sees Dominic and he just smiles and Dominic seeing his big brother just laughs. Jordan has even started to mimic the noises that Dominic makes and that really get Dominic laughing. Absolutely Priceless!

Tigger and Pooh

I took the boys in for their check-ups with the Pediatrician. It is hard to believe how big they are getting. Jordan is now 2 ... ok so I am a little late ... he was 2 in April and Dominic is now 6 months.

Jordan was in the 50% in his growth. It is funny ... the Pediatrician asked if he could jump getting both feet off the ground. I had to laugh. He jumps all the time. We have just started calling him Tigger. Eating isn't a problem with Jordan ... it is getting him to sit still long enough to eat. He would much rather run and stop as he passes to get a bite. He can eat a really good breakfast and then 5 minutes later ask for another "bite". He burns it off as quick as he can eat it because he NEVER stops.

Dominic was in for his 4 mo. check up ... I told you I was late. Well, he is 90% for head and length. He was "only" 50% for his weight (you could have fooled me). His Pediatrican told us "not to worry, she was sure his weight would catch up with the rest of his body". Just what I wanted to hear. Constance is sure that he is "Pooh" ... because she can't be and you have to have a Pooh if you have a Tigger.

Summer Fun!

This week my sister and her family are in from Michigan. I love the time we have to spend with family.

Last night Constance got to have a sleepover ... which meant a late night for her and her cousin ... because of course they had to stay up talking. You would think a queen size bed would be big enough for 2 7 year olds to share ... nope. Constance came into my room this morning before 6am because she had fallen off the bed. She went and fell back asleep on the couch (first time for everything ... she has never fallen back to sleep ... )

They had fun playing all day today too. We had a bit of excitement this afternoon with some bubbles. They almost emptied two containers of bubbles and decided they wanted to make some more. Well evidently there was still some bubbles in the containers and it ended up spilling on the hardwoods. It didn't get cleaned up as quickly as it should have been and Constance found it with her bare feet. Her little toe on her right foot looks pretty bad. It is swollen and black and blue.

Thankfully she wasn't hurting too bad ... we met up with my sister and some more family at the local sprinkler park this afternoon and let the kids run and play for several hours. Constance ran and played with her cousins the entire time. It took Jordan a little bit to decide if he liked it ... As long as he could avoid getting his face wet he was in heaven. He was getting more bold as time went by ... he would actually get close enough to the bucket that his back would get wet when it dumped the water out. I think his favorite spot was the spot where you clean your feet off. That is where he spent most of his time. He was not too happy when it came time to leave.

A step stool and a smart kid

You could see the little wheels spinning the other day in Jordan's head.
As he picks up the stool and proceeds to carry it over to the light switch in the Kitchen. He gets up on it and then turns the light on and off and on and off and on and off ... He keeps pointing and telling me "light". He had the biggest smile on his face. He was obviously pleased with himself. I now see that his reach is even greater then it was previously ... This is going to be interesting.
